to change from fullscreen paroli, in paroli, it's settings -> display and toggle profile to paroli-serenity Restored old root dir via ssh, tar rm -rf .e (as recommended by angus ainslie) opkgs installed: udev-static-devices for faster boot (but not installed as i can't find it) tangogps mokomaze woosh (browser) yaouh (from opkg.org) follow instructions at http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Paroli-background to put my photo in as background Later note: 14.7.2009: did an "opgk upgrade" which segfaulted; did "dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/card/swapfile bs=1k count=10000" then "mkswap /meda/card/swapfile" then "swapon /media/card/swapfile", which allowed opkg upgrade to run to completion. rebooted, gsm service won't start up, gsm0170muxd keeps erroring. restarted muxd from tty, got error "Modem does not respond to AT commands, trying close mux mode". the page at http://trac.freesmartphone.org/ticket/367 suggests these can be caused by out-of-date bootloader, so upgraded qi to the testing-5 qi image, and lo! the problem is gone.

angus ainslie says "To change from fullscreen paroli you must first edit /etc/paroli/paroli.cfg and set settings to True. You can then get the settings menu up by holding the AUX button. In the settings menu you can change the profile." (done, restarted X with /etc/init.d/xserver-nodm restart) cp /etc/freesmartphone/oevents/paroli_rules.yaml to /etc/freesmartphone/oevents/rules.yaml to enable power-button shutdown - after reboot, hold button 5s then release initiates shutdown within 5-10s. time setting taken automagically from network after call made GPRS just automagically works after: 1) hold down AUX inside paroli, after activating settings menu as above 2) put my network (the thing that's passed to the modem with at+cgdcont) in the "APN" field inside the GPRS setup option 3) restart phone 4) again inside GPRS setup, press "status" button and wait for it to connect. def route etc. are all acquired properly. bring down by pressing "status" button again. on angus' advice, installed unstable paroli from http://downloads.openmoko.org/repository/unstable/armv4t/ (accepted updates of certain files), mine is version gitr23 ring tone is awful, see http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/FSO_ringtones for advice on changing opkgs installed: tangogps retried with testing image 3 (08-may-2009) ringtones are much improved!
